NAUTICAL DEPARTMENT 

Position Title: Sailor AB Reports To: Deck Bosun

Position Summary:
The maintenance and conservation of the vessel’s decks and superstructures. The Sailor A/B is directly subordinate to the Watchkeeping Officer. His prime duty is to aid the Watchkeeping Officer in keeping a safe lookout and to report all sightings and dangers to the Watchkeeping Officer. He should be able to take the wheel always when required and follow helm orders from the Master, Watchkeeping Officer or the Pilot.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

In addition, all duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with ISM/ISO and SQM standards, USPH guidelines, Environmental, and Safety policies. Each shipboard employee may be required to perform all functions in various service venues and throughout the ship. It is every employee’s responsibility to conduct oneself in a professional and courteous manner at all times. This consists of physical and verbal interactions with guests or fellow shipboard employees and/or in the presence of guest contact and crewmember areas.

Sailor A/B shall participate in training and guiding the less experienced sailors on board to improve the quality in the Deck Department. 6. Sailor A/B shall always use the correct safety and protection equipment provided in the daily operations and follows the safety instructions from the Bosun in this respect. 7. Support Bosun in all required maintenance of deck equipment while on duty but not during watch. 8. Support the deck officers in any other activities as required

Hiring Requirements:  1 year previous experience as a Sailor OS and at least 2 years of sea service  Deck Watchkeeping Certificate.

FIRST DECK OFFICER
JOB PURPOSE

The first Officer is in charge of ship navigation. He/she must ensure a safety conduction of Navigation and Manoeuvrings Operations during a watch.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Makes daily stability calculations;
• Maintains all tank, cofferdam and void spaces;
• Keeps the official ship certificates;
• Keeps and improves, with the Master, the work safety on board;
• Arranges continual training on safety work procedures for all personnel under his direct charge;

Fluent English, oral and written. Any additional language is considered an advantage;

SECOND DECK OFFICER  

JOB PURPOSE
The Second Officer performs his assigned bridge watch-standing and navigational duties.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Executes the correct performance of his assigned bridge watch-standing and navigational duties;
• Ensures the application of the company policy on board regarding the health and hygiene for crew and passengers;
• Supports Captain, Staff Captain or Chief Mate in all technical matter of the Ship;

Position 
ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER

JOB PURPOSE
The Environmental Officer makes certain the application of all procedures to prevent pollution are understood and carried out by the crew and ensures full compliance with MARPOL regulations relating to the correct handling and disposal of all waste material.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

•Reports directly to the Master any misalignment and no-conformity referred to the Environmental protection and to the correct application of Environmental Company policy;
•Ensures that the garbage is managed correctly, gathered and lawfully disposed in accordance with MARPOL regulations, national, local legislation and Company policy. Assists the shipboard personnel and the authorized appointed companies during the operational garbage disposal;
•Ensures the proper management of the waste water and effluent external sampling tests, according to the Company instructions; files the results and reports sent on board through the Company;
•Makes certain that the Company Policy referred to the Air Emission Management is duly followed. Defines the working schedule of the incinerator and the use of the food waste system discharge, according to the International, local rules and Company procedures;

•In cooperation with the Safety Officer, ensures and performs the environmental trainings to all crew members. Ensures that onboard personnel is trained on Chemical Safety as per Company policy and Chemical Management Manual;
•Makes certain that all external companies and their technicians, once on board are aware of the Environmental Company policy and relevant procedures in order to efficiently and lawfully cope with situations that may cause pollution;
•Together with the Safety Officer, coordinates and directs the monthly Pollution Emergency drills, assists the Staff Captain with any Environmental findings, following to inspections/audits internal and external;
•Cooperates with the 1st Officer on the performance of the Risk Assessment, supporting him about the environmental aspects compliance;
•Carries out periodic inspections of all safety and environmental protection appliances and equipment, which must be properly maintained at all times;
•Updates all environmental logbooks and plans ensuring the correct recordkeeping and filling out by the respective shipboard personnel. Provides an environmental schedule for the voyage, verifying that all environmental restrictions in the ships’ area of operation have been included in the voyage plan, and ensuring the correct application of the Company Policies.

QUALIFICATIONS (skills, competencies, experience)

•Fluent in oral and written English (working & safety language of the Company);
•Environmental / Science-based bachelor’s degree or higher. Successful completion of EO Company training;
•STCW 95 Compliance with the requirements of STCW 95 regarding certification for this position;
•Has a complete knowledge of the MARPOL, Garbage Management Plan, Chemical Management Plan and ISO 14001/50001;
•Basic Windows based programs knowledge;
•A recognised medical certification is required;
•Proven ability to work in a harmonious productive team environment;
•Meet the requirements of the laws of the Flag State of the ship regarding health & physical requirements;
•Extensive successful experience in a similar position within MSC or other Cruise company;

Engine Foreman


BASIC FUNCTION:
The Engine Foreman shall assist the 1st Engineer. He shall perform duties as delegated by him, and organize all work orders received from him. He is responsible for following up and providing feedback to the 1st. Engineer on pending jobs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oiler

BASIC FUNCTION:
Will be trained in various fields and tasks in the engine department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The wipers would participate in keeping the engine spaces and related areas clean and tidy at all times, including washing. They should also be able to participate in maintenance work, particularly related to sanitatizing equipment, under supervision. 3. The wiper is responsible for the cleanliness, sanitization, and elimination of pests in the garbage area, garbage cold storage room, and cooking oil tank room. 4. Monitor and Operation of the incinerator plant and all related equipment, including ash vacuum transport and packaging system. Also maintains and cleans the incinerator room and pulper room machinery spaces. The wiper will report any issues or conditions to the engineer or duty. 5. Ensures all garbage handling equipment such as shredders, conveyers, compactors, incinerators, refrigerators for garbage, pulper system, drains, pumps and pipes are in good working order and in an operational condition at all times. If inoperative, reports condition to the assigned Engineer. Also ensures that all garbage handling equipment and decks in the garbage area are clean, sanitized and painted at all times. 6. Changes the water in pulper systems daily and log times when water has been changed and when the system has been cleaned. 7. Keeps all sensors, firefighting equipment as well as all the environmental machinery free of dirt. 8. At the completion of the segregation operation, wash and rinse all the plastic containers and the garbage bins that are in the area 9. Performs washing and painting jobs in the waste handling areas, painting at the accommodation areas, as well as participates in maintenance work as directed by superiors. 10. Garbage sorting of glass, metal tins and aluminum cans. Metal tins shall be compacted and stored in the cold garbage storeroom. Aluminum cans shall be compacted and bagged for recycling at the designated ports, and shall also be stored in the cold garbage storeroom. The crushed glass should be sanitized with MicroBac III or chlorine solution, covered with plastic membrane, and also stored in the cold garbage storeroom. 11. Reports the names of crewmembers delivering improperly segregated garbage bags to the segregation room to the assigned Engineer or to the Environmental Officer of the vessel. Ensures segregation begin at the source and not at the incinerator room. 12. Ensures proper segregation of all garbage delivered at the time of delivery following company policy. He will make sure that no garbage bags are stored in the garbage treatment area, no garbage bags are thrown on the shredder without thorough checking and immediately eliminate the volume of the garbage bags by separating them into the big, plastic containers using the following color code: Yellow – wet garbage such as food waste Red - burnable waste such as paper, plastic and non-degradable food waste Gray – glass Green/blue – recyclable metal tins and aluminum cans 13. Must be well knowledgeable in the use of all electric forklifts. 14. Responsible for providing record keeping information to the appropriate officer regarding garbage that has been incinerated or landed in port, and any food waste discharges at sea. Assists the Environmental Officer with garbage off-loading in port 15. Wiper must always wear the proper PPE while carrying out their duties. Individual is also to ensure that all persons working in the garbage area wear protected gear properly. 16. Ensures that relevant signs are posted and advance notice is given when maintenance, repair or cleaning operations will take place to preclude waste being brought down during these times. 17. Will be in charge of the discharge of food waste that cannot be incinerated or chopped through the food waste pulpers. (Only for the ships that still operate the chute for waste food only). 18. Monitors and makes sure that all the service galley and restaurant materials must be separated, counted and returned to the Crew dishwasher station. 19. Ensures large materials such as metal doors, cupboards, unserviceable galley equipment, spares, ropes or wires etc., are never left in the provision areas or in any other areas of the ship without prior contact of the Environmental Officer regarding when and how they will be off-loaded. Crewmembers may only be able to bring large materials for offloading to the garbage room.

The Junior Seaman is responsible for the maintenance and conservation of the vessel’s decks and superstructures. He participates in the deck activities according to assignment, knowledge and accumulated experience.

Incinerator Operator
BASIC FUNCTION:
The Incinerator Operator shall carry out the work orders given by Incinerator Technician.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Incinerator Operator(s) will maintain and clean incinerator room, machinery, pulper system, and cold storage room for processed garbage. They shall, during operation, continuously monitor the operation of the incinerator and related equipment to ensure safe and proper operation.  Garbage sorting of glass, metal tins, and aluminum cans. Metal tins shall be compacted and stored in the Cold Garbage Store Room. Glass is processed in crushers and stored in the Cold Garbage Store Room Aluminum cans shall be compacted and bagged for recycling at designated ports and shall also be stored in the Cold Garbage Store Room.  Wash and rinse: 1. Floor -- special attention to corners. 2. Wash basin and stairways. 3. Keep all sensors free of dirt. 4. Garbage Cold Storage Room. 5. Plastic containers/garbage bins.  Log times when pulper system has been cleaned
 At a minimum, change water in pulper systems daily. For systems where pulper water changes continuously, refer to the technical water fill flow meter once a day to ensure that a complete change of water has taken place. If not, adjust flow accordingly. IF SOMETHING IS WRONG REPORT IMMEDIATELY TO THE INCINERATOR TECHNICIAN OR WATCHKEEPING ENGINEER.  Additional routines and work as assigned by supervisor.

3rd Assistant Refrigeration Engineer


BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible to Chief Refrigeration Engineer for operation, maintenance and repair of the ventilation, provision, galley and bar equipment, ice rink (where applicable) and all air conditioning equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Required Qualifications Formal education within HVAC & Refrigeration.

Preferred Qualifications
Education or working experience within Automation & Electronics. Have good mechanical skills, use of power tools and welding equipment.
